Tips for Traveling by Air During COVID-19

  • Arrive on Time: Airport check-in for your flight opens 3 hours prior to departure. We suggest checking-in no later than 2 hours prior to your departure time.
  • Verify your Seat: Seat assignments are not guaranteed and should be verified with your airline at time of check-in.
  • Watch for Baggage Fees: Additional fees for baggage may apply.
  • Consider the Cost to Change Tickets: Please be aware that you may be responsible for additional charges should you make changes to your ticket.
  • Don’t Forget Food & Beverage: Many airlines are not providing food and beverage service.  Plan ahead and bring your own snacks to eat onboard your flight or you may want to build in a little more time to pick up something at the airport. Most airport concessions are open and able to provide meals, snacks, and beverages to go.
  • Stay Hydrated: Bring your own water bottle or fill it before you fly, after passing through the TSA checkpoint.
  • Stay Healthy: Bring a mask and hand sanitizer for the flight.
  • Watch for Airport Restrictions: Check the website for restrictions and information for the airports you will be traveling through.
  • Check Travel Airline Travel Guidelines: For a complete list of travel guidelines, please check the website for your airline.
  • If you have any health concerns after surgery: Should you have concerns or health issues following surgery, please refer to your post-discharge instructions provided to you by your surgeon and call your doctor. In the event of an emergency, do not hesitate to dial 911.
